Plant Manager - Lexington, KY

Job Overview:
As the Plant Manager for Murphy Door, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our manufacturing facility in Lexington, Kentucky. Your primary goal will be to ensure that all production processes run efficiently, smoothly, and effectively to meet our delivery schedules and customer demands. You will also be accountable for the overall performance of the plant, including employee management, equipment maintenance, production volumes, and growth targets.

Your Opportunity:
As a Plant Manager at Murphy Door, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of our manufacturing operations. We view our manufacturing operations as the heart of our efforts to deliver high-quality, innovative hidden doors to our customers. You will be responsible for plant performance in accordance with business objectives, including absorption, manufacturing variances, safety, quality, sustainability, cost center budgets, and capital project management.

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • MurpImplementation and advancement of Continuous Improvement Programs
  • Development and advancement of Murphy Door's culture across the organization
  • Managing customer-supplier relationships with corporate services, marketing, research and development, engineering, and external suppliers and vendors
  • Staffing and professional development of plant leaders
  • Developing the plant vision, master plan, capital budget, expense budget, and other strategic planning
  • Managing relationships with local city representatives to ensure compliance with all regulations and maintain positive community relations
  • Setting the standard for safety across the organization and owning the Safety culture
  • Participating and collaborating within the Marketing Team to drive overall Strategic Issues

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day plant operations to ensure that production schedules, quality standards, and delivery targets are met
  • Maintain accountabilities for all employees, factory, and production volumes, ensuring that goals and targets are met
  • Develop and implement growth strategies for the plant, including hiring, training, and firing of employees as required
  • Process and approve disciplinary actions as required in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Monitor and maintain all plant equipment to ensure that they are operating safely and efficiently and carry out routine inspections and repairs as needed
  • Complete inventory counts, maintain accurate stock records, and manage plant budgets to ensure that expenses are within the allocated budget
  • Provide daily productivity reports to senior management, detailing plant performance against targets and objectives
  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment for all employees, implementing appropriate safety procedures and protocols as required
  • Vendor Relationships: Purchasing, delivery of product, quality, and timing.

Qualifications:

  • Preferably a bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in plant management in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills and ability to teach others
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience with production management systems and methodologies
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • TPM, Lean, Six Sigma, or other experience with the implementation of High Performing Work Systems is required
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to facilitate and manage change
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative assessment skills, critical thinking skills, and the ability to constructively challenge ideas and assumptions
