The Most Comprehensive Warranty in the Hidden Door Industry
Last updated: May 15, 2026
Our Promise to You
Murphy Door Inc. has designed, engineered, and manufactured over 200,000 hidden door and furniture systems in our own U.S. facilities. Every hinge is made by us. Every door is built by us. Every system is tested by us before it ships. We stand behind our work with the most comprehensive warranty in the hidden door industry because when you make the product yourself, you know exactly how long it will last.
We built this company on the belief that our customers deserve complete confidence in their purchase. This warranty reflects that belief.
What's Covered
Covered for the Lifetime of Your Door
The following components are warranted to the original purchaser for the lifetime of the product against defects in material and workmanship under normal residential use:
Hardware and Mechanical Components
- All hinges, pivot systems, gas pistons, and mounting hardware
- All structural steel and internal reinforcement components
- Cabinet hardware including knobs, pulls, shelf pins, and shelf supports
- All latches, catches, and friction catch mechanisms
Wood and Core Materials
- Hardwood face frames, cabinet doors, and solid wood components
- MDF core panels, sides, tops, bottoms, shelves, and back panels
Labor and Workmanship
- All labor and workmanship — if we built it wrong, we fix it, period
- Structural integrity of the door frame, jamb, and casing assembly
If any lifetime-covered component fails due to a manufacturing defect at any point during your ownership, Murphy Door will repair or replace the defective component at no charge for parts or standard ground shipping within the continental United States. Labor for warranty repairs performed by Murphy Door or our authorized partners is covered under the lifetime tier.
Covered for Five Years
The following components are warranted for five (5) years from the date of original purchase:
- Mechanical locking systems (key locks, deadbolts, combination mechanisms, including model 100TA)
- Paint, stain, lacquer, sealants, and all factory-applied finishes
- Wood veneer surfaces
If these components fail due to a manufacturing defect within five years of purchase, Murphy Door will replace the defective component at no charge for parts. Finish and veneer warranty covers defects in factory application such as peeling, bubbling, delamination, cracking, or adhesion failure under normal indoor residential conditions. Normal wear, fading from UV exposure, and damage from cleaning chemicals or abrasives are not covered.
Covered for One Year
The following components are warranted for one (1) year from the date of original purchase:
- Electronic locks and electromagnetic locks
- Keypad and fingerprint access controllers
- Wireless key fobs and remote-entry devices
- Automated door openers, motors, and motorized components
- Battery backup units
- Customer-requested plywood substrates or other custom/special-order materials not part of Murphy Door's standard construction
If these components fail due to a manufacturing defect within one year of purchase, Murphy Door will repair or replace the defective component at no charge for parts.
Why one year on electronics? Our electronic locks, openers, and access controllers are sourced from specialized overseas manufacturers. Every other component on a Murphy Door product is built in our Utah and Kentucky facilities. We're transparent about this so you know exactly what you're buying.
Note: Murphy Door's standard construction uses MDF core materials, which carry our full lifetime warranty. Plywood substrates on doors are available as a customer-requested upgrade and carry a one-year warranty.
Murphy Bed Warranty
Horizontal Murphy Beds (Twin, Twin XL, Full, Queen) follow the same three-tier structure: lifetime coverage on the gas-piston mechanism, frame, hardware, and structural steel components; five years on finishes, mechanical locks, plywood face material, and veneer; one year on any electronic accessories. Mattresses are not included with the bed and are not covered under this warranty.
Murphy Door Shipping Damage Guarantee
Every Murphy Door is inspected and photographed by our freight team before it leaves our facility. If your door arrives with damage caused during shipping, Murphy Door will replace or repair the damaged components at no charge to you, including replacement shipping costs. This guarantee applies even if you or your contractor signed for the delivery without noting damage on the Bill of Lading. We know that large freight deliveries happen fast and damage is not always visible at the curb. We are not going to penalize you for that.
To file a shipping damage claim, email photos of the damage to help@murphydoor.com within 72 hours of delivery. Include your order number. Our team will respond within one business day with a resolution plan.
Inspection tip: If you have a moment at delivery, inspect all packages and note any visible damage on the BOL before signing. This is not required to file a claim — you are covered either way — but shipping damage documented at delivery typically resolves in days versus weeks. It is the single fastest thing you can do to get a resolution.
What Is Not Covered
This warranty does not cover:
- Damage resulting from misuse, abuse, neglect, unauthorized modifications, or accidents
- Damage caused by improper installation that does not follow Murphy Door's published instructions
- Normal wear and tear, including natural aging and patina of wood surfaces over time
- Damage caused by exposure to extreme moisture, temperature, or environmental conditions outside normal residential indoor use
- Exterior or outdoor installation — Murphy Door products are designed for interior use only
- Cosmetic variations in wood grain, color, or texture that are inherent characteristics of natural wood and do not affect function
- Cosmetic damage discovered more than 30 days after delivery
- Finish damage caused by cleaning chemicals, abrasives, or UV exposure beyond normal indoor conditions
- Mirror glass, mattresses, customer-supplied panels (DIY kits), and consumable items (touch-up paint, batteries beyond the initial defect window)
- Doors stored in garages, outdoors, or in any non-climate-controlled environment. Doors must be stored upright in a dry, temperature-stable location. Doors stored leaning against a wall, laying flat on the ground, or in any position other than upright are at high risk of warping due to uneven stress on the door structure. Damage resulting from improper storage is not covered under this warranty.
- Unfinished products that are not stained, painted, or sealed within 20 days of delivery. Raw wood absorbs moisture from the surrounding environment and will warp, bow, or crack if left unfinished. Murphy Door strongly recommends finishing your door immediately upon receipt. Damage to unfinished doors that have not been finished within 20 days of delivery is not covered under this warranty.
- On-site service travel expenses
- Third-party costs including uninstallation, reinstallation, painting, drywall repair, or other work performed by parties other than Murphy Door
- Damage from shipping not reported within 72 hours of delivery (file a shipping damage claim instead — see the Shipping Damage Guarantee above)
Who's Covered
This warranty extends to the original purchaser at the original delivery address. It is non-transferable. Proof of purchase (order number or receipt) is required for any claim.

Common Warranty Questions
How long is the Murphy Door warranty?
Murphy Door offers a three-tier limited lifetime warranty. Structural steel, hardware, hardwood, MDF core panels, cabinet hardware, and labor are covered for the lifetime of the original purchaser. Finishes, mechanical locks, and wood veneer are covered for five years. Electronic locks, openers, keypads, fingerprint readers, key fobs, battery backups, and customer-requested plywood substrates are covered for one year.
Is the warranty transferable if I sell my home?
No. The warranty extends only to the original purchaser at the original delivery address and is non-transferable. Proof of purchase is required for any claim.
Are mattresses covered under the Murphy Bed warranty?
No. Mattresses are not included with Murphy Beds and are not covered under this warranty. The bed frame, gas-piston mechanism, hardware, and structural components carry the standard tiered coverage.
What happens if my electronic lock fails after one year?
Electronic components — locks, openers, keypads, fingerprint readers, key fobs, and battery backups — are covered for one year from delivery. After that period, Murphy Door can often help you source replacement parts at cost, but the failure would not be covered under warranty. We source these components from specialized overseas manufacturers, which is why their coverage differs from the lifetime coverage on parts we build ourselves in Utah and Kentucky.
What if my door arrived damaged from shipping?
Email photos to help@murphydoor.com within 72 hours of delivery, including your order number. Murphy Door will replace or repair shipping-damaged components at no charge, including replacement shipping. This guarantee applies even if no damage was noted on the Bill of Lading at delivery.
Where are Murphy Doors made?
Every Murphy Door is designed, engineered, and manufactured in our own U.S. facilities in Ogden, Utah; West Haven, Utah; and Lexington, Kentucky. Electronic components are the one exception — those are sourced from specialized overseas manufacturers and carry a one-year warranty.
General Warranty Terms
This warranty is provided to the original purchaser and proof of purchase is required for all claims. Murphy Door reserves the right to inspect returned components before shipping replacements. Authorization must be obtained before returning any component. Murphy Door may, at its sole discretion, choose to repair, replace, or provide a refund for the defective component. Warranty service must be performed by Murphy Door Inc. or an authorized service provider. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights that vary from state to state. This warranty replaces all prior warranty documents published by Murphy Door Inc. and supersedes any conflicting warranty language in other Murphy Door publications.
