Description
Our most popular locking system, the Mechanical Key Lock is a dead-bolt locking system that extends a metal rod into the bottom threshold and top jamb or your frame. The key insert is installed standard just above the fixed shelf, but also has the option of being installed below the fixed shelf for a more hidden application.

Does Murphy Door® offer RFID key fobs or cards as accessories?
Yes. Murphy Door® offers RFID key cards and fobs as accessories and replacement credentials for all RFID-enabled products in the concealment furniture line — shelves, nightstands, and doors. Additional cards can be programmed to the existing reader without specialized equipment, allowing household members to have independent credentials. Replacement card sets are available if a card is lost or needs to be deactivated. Contact Murphy Door® accessories support to order additional RFID credentials for your product.
Should I use a magnetic lock or a deadbolt for a safe room door?
For a safe room, a multi-point mechanical deadbolt system is the more reliable primary locking mechanism because it operates without electricity and cannot be defeated by cutting power to the building. Magnetic (electromagnetic) locks are excellent as secondary access-control layers — they enable keypad or RFID entry from outside the room — but they fail open when power is lost, making them unsuitable as the sole locking mechanism in an emergency scenario. Murphy Door's safe room doors are engineered with mechanical multi-point deadbolts as the primary system, with provisions for electronic secondary locks integrated at your option. Our design team can walk you through the full access-control stack for your project.
Does Murphy Door offer smart home and electronic lock integration?
Yes — Murphy Door's electronic locking hardware is compatible with major smart home ecosystems including Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Apple HomeKit, and professional automation platforms like Control4 and Crestron. Keypads, fingerprint readers, and wireless fob systems can be integrated during the initial build or added to an existing Murphy Door installation.
