Shipping
Please allow 10-12 weeks for shipping.
Curbside Delivery
Residential deliveries are curbside only, which means that the palletized product is delivered to the curb outside of your home or at the end of the driveway.
Palletized product is delivered by a single driver on a full-size freight truck with a hydraulic liftgate.
Someone must be present to accept the shipment
The driver will not be able to move the palletized product into the garage or the home.
For insurance reasons, freight companies will not allow drivers to back into any driveways, dirt roads or other out-of-the-ordinary lanes, paved or unpaved. If the delivery point is too far from the installation or storage area, you must make arrangements to meet the driver and transfer the material to another vehicle. Freight drivers will only transfer product from the trailer to the person accepting the shipment.
NOTE: Neither the freight carrier nor Murphy Door will be responsible for any missing or damaged material after the shipment is off-loaded from the freight carrier and the delivery receipt signed.
FAQ
How do I troubleshoot a Murphy bed that is difficult to lower or lift?
A Murphy bed that requires excessive force to lower or lift is a common issue with a straightforward set of causes and solutions.
**Piston tension calibration**: Murphy Door® Murphy beds use gas piston (spring-assisted) lift mechanisms that must be calibrated to the combined weight of the mattress being used. Pistons are adjustable — turning the adjustment mechanism (typically a tension bolt on the piston body, detailed in the [installation guides](/pages/help)) clockwise increases resistance (makes lowering harder, lifting easier) and counterclockwise decreases it (makes lowering easier, lifting harder). If you changed mattresses since installation, recalibration is almost certainly needed.
**Mattress weight mismatch**: The most common cause of a difficult-to-operate Murphy bed is a mattress that is significantly heavier or lighter than the piston's calibrated range. A heavy hybrid or innerspring mattress may exceed the piston's optimal range; a very light foam mattress may not provide enough counterweight. Murphy Door® recommends a 10–12" memory foam, latex, or hybrid mattress in the 50–80 lb range for optimal piston performance in most configurations.
**Hardware binding**: Check that the pivot arms move freely throughout the full range of motion with no binding, rubbing, or interference from the cabinet structure. A misaligned pivot arm can add significant resistance to the mechanism.
**Lubrication**: Apply a light silicone lubricant to all pivot points and the piston shaft annually. Dry pivot points create additional friction that compounds resistance over time.
If adjustment and lubrication do not resolve the issue, and the piston mechanism appears to have lost gas charge (evidenced by significantly reduced lifting assistance), this is a warranty-covered hardware defect. Contact [/support](/pages/help) with your order number and photos.
What is the starting price for a Murphy bed, and what affects the final price?
Murphy Door® Murphy beds start at approximately $2,500 for standard horizontal configurations and range to $8,000 or more for fully custom systems with integrated cabinetry, desk surfaces, and premium wood species. The final price is determined primarily by four factors: size (twin, full, queen, or king), orientation (horizontal vs. vertical), wood species and finish selection, and the complexity of surrounding storage and functional cabinetry.
At the entry level, a horizontal twin or full Murphy bed in a standard paint-grade finish provides outstanding value — the mechanism quality and engineering are identical to the premium configurations, only the size and finish level differ. At the upper end, a queen or king vertical Murphy bed surrounded by custom-built floating shelves, integrated desk and workspace, and premium hardwood species in walnut or white oak becomes a centerpiece furniture installation that transforms an entire room.
Mattresses are not included in Murphy bed pricing and should be budgeted separately — a quality 10–12-inch foam or hybrid mattress in the appropriate size typically adds $800–$2,000 to the total investment.
All Murphy bed prices include White Glove Delivery with professional installation. Configure your exact system and receive live pricing in the [bed configurator](/pages/help). Affirm financing at [/financing](/pages/financing) makes monthly payments starting from under $160/month achievable for most configurations.
Can I pair a Murphy bed with a hidden door?
Yes — and this is one of Murphy Door®'s signature luxury applications. A hidden bookcase door can conceal the Murphy bed room entirely, turning a guest suite into an invisible space when not in use. Murphy Door®'s full product line is designed with matching finishes and construction standards so the door, bed cabinet, and any additional concealment furniture can be specified as a coordinated system from a single manufacturer.
Can a Murphy bed be used every night?
Yes. Murphy Door® Murphy beds are designed and rated for nightly use, not occasional guest sleeping. The counterbalance piston system is calibrated for frequent daily cycling, and the wall-mounting structure supports the full sleeping load indefinitely. Wall-mounted Murphy beds are categorically different from cabinet beds (which use tri-fold foam and are rated for occasional use only). Murphy Door® builds to a primary-residence standard — not a guest room workaround.
