The Hidden French Door is a great way to transform any doorway 4-6 feet wide. The French Mount is a double flush mount door. With a variety of wood types, stains, cabinet, and locking options, the French Door will add elegance to any room.

What is a French hidden door?
A French hidden door consists of two doors that meet in the center and swing open together, disguised as a matching double bookcase or panel set. Murphy Door®'s French door configuration starts at $3,240 and creates a dramatic reveal suited for larger openings — home theaters, wine cellars, formal libraries, and primary entrances to private suites. Both doors include the same precision hinge engineering and 300-lb per-door load capacity.
What is the difference between a single Murphy Door and a French door?
Single bookcase doors are available in widths from 24" to 48" and open from one side like a standard door. French doors are designed for wider openings from 48" to 84" wide — they consist of two door panels that meet in the center, giving you a grand double-door entrance while maintaining the hidden bookcase aesthetic on both panels.
What is the difference between a flush-mount and surface-mount hidden door?
A flush-mount hidden door installs within the wall opening so the door face sits perfectly level with the surrounding wall, creating a completely seamless look. A surface-mount door attaches to the wall face with a frame and trim, sitting slightly proud of the wall. Flush-mount installs are more architecturally convincing but require more precise rough opening preparation. Surface-mount is faster to install and works with most wall types.
Can Murphy Doors be opened from the inside?
Yes, Murphy Doors can be opened from both the front and back sides.
Is it hard to install a hidden bookcase door?
Installation difficulty depends on your configuration. Murphy Door® panel kits are designed for experienced DIYers with basic carpentry skills and can typically be completed in one to two days. Fully assembled units include White Glove Delivery, meaning Murphy Door's professionals handle the complete installation. For flush-mount or custom configurations, professional installation is strongly recommended to ensure proper alignment and concealment.
