Deseret News's video segment "What's Behind Murphy Door®?" took viewers inside the West Haven facility for one of the more complete visual tours of how a hidden door actually gets built — from rough panel to finished install. For most homeowners, this is the first time they've seen a manufacturing line for a product category they didn't know existed.
What we'd add to Deseret's coverage: the manufacturing decisions that make a flush-mount door — also known as a built-in door — look invisible aren't visible on the video tour. The hinge geometry, the panel-edge profiling, the finish coat that has to survive the install crew touching it — all of it had to be engineered before the first one shipped in 2012.

Before You Install: Finish Those Walls First
Surface Mount sits over a fully finished opening: drywall,
paint, and trim done, just like an existing doorway. If
you’re still mid-construction, finish those edges out
first, or the raw sheetrock and framing around the door will
stay visible once it’s mounted.
