I had my father (who lives in Hawaii) come up and help me get this thing installed. He owned an auto repair shop for 40+ years and loves wood work. He is the “measure 5x ..and cut once” type of carpenter. Anyway I figured I would wait till he came to visit to get this thing done. It came out beautifully. Initially you guys weren’t able to build a door that high, but we ended up raising the jamb/door app. 3 inches from the bottom. That way we were able to add a baseboard beneath the door and a crown molding on the top. All of this was done without adding dry wall which I was hoping we could avoid since I didn’t want dust in my room. Everything came out even better than expected…All in all I am extremely happy with the final product. It sits virtually flush with the wall and most people will probably never know there is a room behind the door/shelf. Thanks for all your help and for creating such an amazing product!

Since I’ve built my first bookcase, I’ve had 2 more requests for them. It’s a great idea and the hardware works perfectly. I do recommend making a model first as I did. Once I had the measurements down, it fit like a glove and operated well. I would recommend to anyone.

I love my Murphy door choice! Attaching a snapshot. I took a narrow hallway coat closet that shared a wall with my super small bedroom closet so I could have a larger walk-in. I didn't want the wall to go to no use, though, and a Murphy door created a second entrance for the closet while doubling as a built-in shelf between the bedroom and bathroom. It's now a great feature to distinguish an otherwise boring entry space that was just doors.
