Choose your face surface on this product: Real Wood Veneer (Walnut, White Oak, Maple, Knotty Alder, Red Oak), Paint Grade (a smooth, paintable Vaultwood Core™ face). All built on solid hardwood face frames over an Vaultwood Core™, our specialized engineered core (a premium grade of MDF), for dimensional stability.

Murphy Door® units use precision hinges, flush-mount framing, and matched trim so the door disappears into the wall. When opened, it reveals a concealed room, safe space, or private passage. What is the difference between a flush-mount and surface-mount hidden door?

A flush-mount hidden door installs within the wall opening so the door face sits perfectly level with the surrounding wall, creating a completely seamless look. A surface-mount door attaches to the wall face with a frame and trim, sitting slightly proud of the wall. Flush-mount installs are more architecturally convincing but require more precise rough opening preparation. Surface-mount is faster to install and works with most wall types.

Is it hard to install a hidden bookcase door?

Installation difficulty depends on your configuration. Murphy Door® panel kits are designed for experienced DIYers with basic carpentry skills and can typically be completed in one to two days. Fully assembled units ship pre-hung and factory-tested, so they install faster. White Glove Delivery (an optional add-on from $350) will bring the unit inside and place it in the room, but it does not include installation. How much force does it take to open and close a Murphy Door?
