“I was so worried about ordering my Murphy Door because it seemed so complicated, and then… I got on the phone with Alijah. He was so helpful and so professional. By the time we were done completing my first purchase, I already started planning additional doors and perhaps beds and shelves as well! If I would have known Alijah was there to assist, I would have made my purchase ages ago.”

Curbside Delivery

  • Residential deliveries are curbside only, which means that the palletized product is delivered to the curb outside of your home or at the end of the driveway.
  • Palletized product is delivered by a single driver on a full-size freight truck with a hydraulic liftgate.
  • Someone must be present to accept the shipment
  • The driver will not be able to move the palletized product into the garage or the home.

For insurance reasons, freight companies will not allow drivers to back into any driveways, dirt roads or other out-of-the-ordinary lanes, paved or unpaved. If the delivery point is too far from the installation or storage area, you must make arrangements to meet the driver and transfer the material to another vehicle. Freight drivers will only transfer product from the trailer to the person accepting the shipment.

NOTE: Neither the freight carrier nor Murphy Door will be responsible for any missing or damaged material after the shipment is off-loaded from the freight carrier and the delivery receipt signed.

FAQ

What is a Murphy bed, and is it the same as a wall bed?

Yes — Murphy bed and wall bed are two names for the same thing: a bed that folds up vertically (or horizontally) into a cabinet when not in use, freeing the floor space for living. The name "Murphy bed" comes from William L. Murphy, who patented the design in the early 1900s, while "wall bed" is simply the modern descriptive term. Murphy Door elevates this concept by integrating our signature hidden-door craftsmanship, so your wall bed can disappear behind a full bookcase or panel door. Explore the possibilities in our Murphy bed collection or design your own in the Design Studio.

Are Murphy beds comfortable and safe to sleep in every night?

Murphy beds are genuinely comfortable for nightly use — the fold-down mechanism is engineered to hold the mattress flat and fully supported, exactly as a traditional bed frame does. Murphy Door's wall beds use heavy-duty steel piston hardware with safety stop mechanisms, so the bed cannot close on an occupant and holds its position reliably at every angle. Pair it with any quality mattress and the experience is indistinguishable from a conventional bed. Read what real owners say in our customer reviews.

What type of mattress works best with a Murphy bed?

For the best fit and performance, we recommend a mattress between 8" and 11" thick for most Murphy Beds, with a maximum recommended thickness of 9" for horizontal models. Hybrid and spring mattresses are generally ideal because they hold their shape well and work smoothly with the bed mechanism. Memory foam mattresses can also be used, but weight should be carefully considered, as some memory foam mattresses can be significantly heavier than traditional options. Always make sure the mattress stays within the weight requirements for your specific Murphy Bed configuration. Traditional innerspring or pocketed-coil mattresses can also be used and should be secured with the included retention straps to help prevent shifting while the bed is being raised or lowered. Mattresses thicker than 11" on vertical models or 9" on horizontal models may interfere with the cabinet closing properly, so always confirm both thickness and weight compatibility with your specific configuration before purchasing. For additional configuration details, visit our Murphy Bed Collection or reach out to our team

Can I install a Murphy bed myself, or do I need a professional?

Murphy Door® wall beds are designed for DIY installation. Our beds ship unassembled, with the bed mechanism and hardware included, so plan for assembly as well as wall anchoring. Our installation guides cover every configuration. For large custom multi-cabinet builds or integrated hidden-door systems, we recommend engaging a local carpenter or installer for the final wall anchoring and finish work. Our support team is available to walk you through any step of the process.

What mattress works best in a Murphy bed?

Hybrid and spring mattresses are generally the best fit for Murphy beds because they hold their shape well and work smoothly with the bed mechanism. Memory foam and gel foam mattresses can also be used, but their weight should be considered carefully, as some models can be significantly heavier. For most Murphy Beds, we recommend a mattress between 8" and 11" thick, with a maximum recommended thickness of 9" for horizontal configurations. Mattresses that are too thick or too heavy may interfere with proper operation or cabinet closure, so always confirm both thickness and weight compatibility with your specific Murphy Bed setup.

What sizes do Murphy beds come in?

Murphy Door® Murphy beds come in twin, queen, and king, depending on the style. Our horizontal Murphy beds fold sideways, so they suit lower ceilings, and come in twin, twin XL, and queen. Our vertical Murphy beds stand upright when closed and come in twin, queen, and king, with or without side cabinets. The Murphy Desk Bed comes in twin or queen. We don't currently make a full-size Murphy bed. Explore every size in the Murphy bed collection or design your perfect fit in the Design Studio.

Stay Away - Horrendous Customer Service

OK. This will be the last time we ever speak but I have some things I need to say/suggestions that you might heed.

When a person (repeat customer) orders a high-priced item from you, pays $500 for original shipping and YOU leave out a crucial $1 tool needed to assemble said high-priced item, YOU GLADLY SEND THIS TOOL ASAP OVERNIGHT. Which part of this level of customer service do you not understand? You left the tool out, make it right as fast as you can. Period, RIGHT?
For Christs sake, even after I informed you on Monday morning about this, you waited until the next day to send it via the slowest process possible, snail mail with USPS! I didnt even know you sent the tool until I got a notice form USPS. The fact that you are willing to lose a repeat customer over $25-30 for priority shipping for a $1 tool is ASTOUNDING.

On top of everything, the email chain below has never been answered or responded to, not once. I have guests coming this weekend that were to use the bed, so good job to you!

Best of luck in the future but I will be sure to let everyone I know to stay away from you

Don’t waste your time or money! What a disaster ! What a scam!!!!

The ned arrives already with parts damaged, took almost a month to get the part replaced, then when it arrived, despite following step by step directions with a handyman and a professional builder (my boyfriend), despite being very accurate in putting the parts together… the bed snapped in many pieces and locations.. customer service is slow and refused to acknowledge from day one that something was wrong with this order. Also the fact that they send a bed in so many parts and have no assembly team of their own with experience on how to assembly these very delicate beds… I want a full refund and pls come get this out of my house. I don’t trust anyone sleeping on this and clearly the assembly instructions do not account for company error and minor misalignment mistakes which lead into major problems… one tiny milliliter difference and all is off alignment… this company might be ok for doors, but is a terror real life story for their beds!!
