Description

The Murphy Door® battery backup is an option for our Electromagnetic Lock. It is not a stand-alone product.

This battery backup is a necessity to keep your door securely locked when power goes out. The same power that keeps your Electromagnetic Lock, keeps this battery charged for when it is needed. When the power goes out, the power will keep your Electromagnetic Lock functioning for up to 72 hours.

This replaces the standard power supply that is usually shipped with the Electromagnetic Lock.

Murphy Door® recommends a licensed and trained electrician whenever wiring is involved.

What warranty does Murphy Door offer?

Murphy Door® hidden doors carry a Lifetime Warranty on Hardware, Wood, and Workmanship, covering hinges, hardware, structural steel reinforcement, panels built to the Vaultwood Core specification, and labor for the lifetime of the original purchaser. Factory finishes (paint, stain, lacquer), mechanical locks, veneer, and plywood face are covered for five years. Electronic locking systems are covered for one year. Does Murphy Door offer white-glove delivery?

Yes — White Glove Delivery, which brings your unit off the truck and into your home (inside delivery, room placement, and packaging removal), is available as a paid add-on starting at $350 (standard) / $550 (overlength). How do you open a hidden door from the inside — is it safe if someone is locked in?

Safety is built into every Murphy Door design: all units include an interior release mechanism so the room can never become an inadvertent trap. Standard configurations feature an interior handle or touch-latch that opens the door from the concealed side without any special key or code. For safe rooms and panic rooms, we incorporate dedicated interior emergency release hardware that overrides any external locking system. Full safety details are covered in our installation guides, and our support team can specify the right release mechanism for your configuration.

Bad after sale support

I have emailed your company twice with a question about installing this battery pack, but I have not received any response, even after several weeks.

I am very disappointed with the level of after-sales support. When I was purchasing your products, customer service was prompt and helpful. Unfortunately, the support I've experienced after the sale has been the opposite.

I would appreciate a response to my installation question as soon as possible. I hope you will stand behind your products by providing the customer support your customers expect.

Dream come true, to be perfectly honest. I always wanted a secret room as a kid, and now I managed to justify it by pointing out to my wife that life would be a lot easier if our kids didn't know where my office was! I ordered direct and the customer service was 10/10; the door showed up ahead of schedule and was quite easy to install; and it looks great, holds my entire Timothy Zahn book collection, and swings easily and without any kind of wiggle or looseness.

I also got the electromagnetic lock, and let me just say that it freaking WORKS. Wiring it up wasn't too hard, and testing it was a lot of fun - I straight up shoulder-charged the door and it didn't budge. Won't get through that without some serious tools. The fob looks sharp and the sliding cover to protect the buttons is a phenomenal design.

20/10, would buy the entire kit again.

Worked flawlessly! Used a number pad for entry and hidden button for exit. Battery backup has come in handy and door shut right and securely.
